How to make a B & W plot file in ACAD14
Type config at the command prompt. - Select New from the Printer tab;
- Select Hewlett-Packard HP-GL/2 devices, ADI 4.3 - for Autodesk by HP;
- Type in a name for your new configuration in the Add a description box, such as "Digital";
- Press Enter to continue list of model numbers;
- Select 1 HP DesignJet 755CM;
- Press a key to continue (we will not need to use to HPCONFIG command);
- Specify a port doesn't matter because we will be plotting to a file, not to a plotter, so just press Enter;
- Enter parallel port name or . for none: Enter . (dot);
- Do you want to change anything? Yes;
- Do you want to change any of the above parameters? No;
- Would you like to calibrate your plotter? No;
- Write the plot to a file? Yes;
- Size units (Inches or Millimeters) Whichever is appropriate;
- Plot origin in inches: 0,0 is fine;
- Enter the Size or Width, Height: Pick an oversize sheet, ReproDesk doesn't care about size of paper in the plot file. The critical setting is the scale. But don't pick an undersize sheet or the plot file will be cut off.
- Rotate plot clockwise: 0
- Remove hidden lines?: No (as a default, if you want hidden lines removed type Yes, see your Autocad manual).
- Plotted Inches=Drawing Units or Fit or ?: Type in the plot scale. Try to avoid plotting to fit, your scale will not be accurate;
- You will see a new printer on your list of printers. Click OK.
- Type plot or click the print icon.
- Go into Device and Default Selection.
- Select the new printer we just configured and click OK.
- Under Additional Parameters select what area you want to plot, i.e. Display, Extents, Limits, View or Window.
- Make sure the Text Fill and Plot to File boxes are checked.
- Put the correct plot scale in the Scale, Rotation, and Origin box.
- In the Plot preview field click Full then click Preview, you should see your drawing on a sheet the size of your paper selected earlier. Again, as long as your entire image shows, the paper size and origin are not critical. We will set that in ReproDesk later.
- Click Esc to return to the Print / Plot dialog box.
- Click the File Name box.
- Name your plot file and choose the destination. Click Save.
You have now created a plot file that we can apply pen weights to and print. Let us know what thickness and screening for each color used. This plot file can be easily previewed in ReproDesk or you can simply email us your plot files for printing.
