The single best thing that you can do, to make your prints come out with the desired results, is to create a "print ready file" for us.

To create that print ready file, follow the instructions below for your application.

If you are printing with us for the first time, we encourage sample prints. All machines run a little different. An inkjet will generally print darker and heavier line weights than our laser printers. Toner looks different than ink, types of paper also change the appearance, sometimes drastically. If you have Black and White CAD plots, we are happy to do some free line weight sample prints. For color, we will do a free strip of your design to check for media and color accuracy.

We offer free technical assistance, give us a call. We're available to come to your office or walk through any challenges together on the phone.

In AutoCAD, there are three print ready file types that work very well for black and white.

  1. An HP plt file.
  2. An Adobe Acrobat pdf file.
  3. A dwf.

For color CAD an HPGL2 plot file works best. (See links on right to create a print ready file)

All of these file types are created from your "print" command and each of them can be previewed in some kind of software. If you choose an HP plot file, you can preview your prints in ReproDesk. A pdf, of course, can be viewed in Adobe Acrobat and a dwf can be viewed in Oce Client Tools or the Autodesk DWF Viewer.

The plot file instructions in the right column are to create HP plot files. Please click through the links for instructions.
